Who would have thought a bag would make, by certain standards, as good a bed as that cozy, comfortable one in your bedroom. The idea of packing away your bed is captured in this invention which an Icelandic saga credits to a brave lady explorer named Freydís Eiríksdóttir who used a sail to keep her warm at nighttime.
The sleeping bag is essentially a blanket that you zip. Its convenience lies in its mobility and ease of packing. It is a light carry-on bed convenient for outdoor activities such as camping, hiking or even climbing.
For outdoor activities the key feature of the sleeping bag is its ability to provide thermal insulation. Designs for such purpose are weather-proofed. Materials such as wool used in some sleeping bags are resistant to water although its weight offers a drawback.
Designers have in mind several factors when it comes to their design among which are the “upper and lower temperature limit” which measures the highest and lowest temperature at which a comfortable sleep is achieved by a standard adult man. There is also the so-called “comfort rating”, which is measured according to a standard adult woman’s comfortable sleep. An “extreme rating” on the other hand is based on the plain survival comfort of a standard adult woman. All these are based on Europe’s EN 13537 Standard.
When choosing a sleeping bag the temperature you expect to encounter is a key factor to consider. The shape may give a clue on which bag insulates better as in the case of a mummy-style bag. Also, the varied sizes of sleeping bags available allows the user to choose between having more room for movement, as in the case of a large bag; or being able to contain the heat generated within a small space - a comfort achieved by a smaller-sized bag. Your own tolerance to cold is also an internal, personal guide to your purchase.
Consider also the circumstances you anticipate when you use the bag. Certain questions must be entertained like whether or not you would be using it within a tent; what season of the year it is; how much load you are taking with you which would help you decide how much bag weight you can bear; or how much space you can afford for packing a sleeping bag.
A good buy means a comfortable rest after a day of outdoor fun. Such convenience is in tune with modern, this-day, active lifestyle age. The sleeping bag with its continually innovated designs fits right into an era of fast-foods, quick fixes, easy-to-open-cans and handy tools and gadgets. It is a relatively new trick for old hobbies. Talk about taking sleep wherever you go. After all, who says you can’t have your bag and sleep on it too?

A toddler spends most of its waking hours playing. When your baby hits the first year a whole new range of abilities opens to him to explore his surroundings. Toys being a permanent fixture in his daily confines, keeping them safe for play is a crucial element of a childproofed play area. Consider this; the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that in the US alone, an estimated 210,300 toy-related injuries were treated; 35% of which involved children below 5 years of age.
Guidelines for Toy Selection
Even before any toy gets anywhere near your toddler, you can already ensure their safety and appropriateness to your toddler’s age through a careful and thoughtful toy selection.
A good starting point would be opting for age-appropriate toys. Look for a “recommended age” sticker on the toy package. This would guide you on which toys can be handled by your child given his control ability and level of maturity.
You must also consider the size of the toy to make sure that the toy or any of its parts could not fit into your child’s mouth. Weight is another matter to bear in mind. You don’t want your child injured should the toy accidentally fall on him. The toy should also be free from parts that can be easily detached such as buttons or strings or chords that may pose the danger of strangulation.
Tips for Toy Sanitation
The kind and quality of toys are not the only factors that could render them unfit for use or hazardous to your little one. Dirt and harmful bacteria and pollutants that attach to toys could pose danger as well. Let us face it; you can not sanitize your child’s environment nor his toys one hundred percent. But you can certainly make sure they are cleaned properly.
One thing to bear in mind is that not all toys are cleaned the same way. The trick is in knowing which toys may be tossed in the dishwasher and which ones should be washed by hand, or spray-cleaned or machine-washed.
Most toddler toys may simply be soaked in warm, soapy water. You may add in a small amount of cleaning agents such as a dish soap or liquid soap or dishwashing detergent to get them cleaned.
Large plastic toys should be regularly washed with soap and rinsed using a hose to carefully remove hard-sticking dirt. Stuff toys on the other hand may be handled by the machine unless you find a tag instruction against doing so. The dishwasher is a good cleaning agent for hard plastic toys. The toys are exposed to the dishwasher’s hot temperature which thoroughly sanitizes them.
One may also find sanitizer and disinfecting sprays and use them with caution making sure the toys are wiped properly after spraying. Such products are good to use especially if the toys had been exposed to other children who may have colds and cough that your toddler could easily catch.
Think about this way, the practice of careful toy selection and regular sanitation is comparable to providing your little toddler with healthy and enjoyable friends to play with and as useful as making sure your child gets his required daily dose of vitamins. Like a proper diet which includes an apple or two a day, such practices are sure to help keep the doctor away.

If you want to plan a nice, memorable party for the 4th of July, your birthday or a reception, you should try a barbeque. You will offer your guests memories that will stick with them for many years to come. Off course, you don’t get to have the perfect BBQ party without planning, so if you follow the next few steps, you can’t go wrong.
1) First of all, if you want to have a party, you need guests. Start planning on time, so your guests can put your party in their schedule. It’s easier to find a date and time that suits everyone if you give enough advanced notice. And please remember, even with enough advanced notice, not everyone will be able to come so don’t be discouraged if there are fewer guests than you hoped for.
2) Check the weather for the time of year. In some places it’s best to have a backup plan for unusual weather. It’s impossible to predict things like rain ahead of time but if you plan your barbeque during the time of year that it is more likely to be a nice weather you have less chance of needing to cancel your party.
3) When you purchase the meat for your party, keep in mind that not everyone attending may like a certain kind of meat. If you plan for pork, sausage, hamburgers and chicken, you can’t go wrong. If there are smaller children at the party, consider some child friendly foods like hot dogs.
4) When you know what kind of meat you are going to serve, you can plan for the side dishes. If you want a traditional barbeque you should include potatoes, potato salad, baked beans and coleslaw. For a traditional condiment bar, you should choose pickles, relish and onions. The plus for these kind of foods is that they are easy to prepare and store. You can choose to have other dishes, but no barbeque is complete without these items.
5) If you are having a theme party you can choose to purchase decorations. These can be found at any local party or general store. If you choose to have decorations, consider to buy decorations that can be reused at a different party.
6) The day before you should make sure you thaw, prepare and marinate the meat. Put the meat in the refrigerator with the marinate until it’s time to put it on the grill. Try to prepare as many side dishes as you can ahead of time.
7) The day of the party, you should try to get up early and start preparing. That way you will be done when your guests arrive. Try to have your grill started when your guests arrive because the smell of the grill will bring everyone in the mood for a nice barbeque.
By following these 7 easy steps, you can’t go wrong with your barbeque party. Start planning and enjoy the company of your friends and family on your next BBQ.

When times are tough, many people wonder how and if they will be able to take a family vacation. I know that because my wife and I had the same conversation just recently. But given my knack for uncovering travel deals, I was able to show my wife a way that we could take advantage of the hard times in the economy right now, to get a lot more fun for much less money.
How To Stretch Your Travel Dollars, By Paying Less For Hotel Rooms
In economic boom times, hotels typically have 95%-98% occupancy rates. When hotels are running at such capacity, the hotel’s management is fat and happy with profits.
But in recessionary periods like we are experiencing right now, hotels find occupancy rates running at 60%-65%, making it hard for the hotel’s management to make ends meet.
Hotels make money when they can fill their rooms, with paying customers. When running at 95%-98% occupancy rates, filling those final rooms are pure gravy on the hotel’s bottom line. With high occupancy rates, hotels tend to hold empty rooms for people desperate for a room, enabling the hotel to maximize its profits.
But when occupancy rates are low, hotel managers are desperate for customers instead of customers being desperate for a room. Herein lies the secret to getting more bang for your travel dollars.
Full rooms are a sellers’ market, and empty rooms create a buyers’ market. When in a buyers’ market, the buyer has a lot of control over the final price the customer will pay.
If you go to the front desk of the hotel and demonstrate to the satisfaction of the hotel proprietor that you may be willing to walk out the front door of the hotel and shop for another room, then you will have strengthened your hand for negotiating a better price for a room. My experience has been that many hotel proprietors believe that if you are standing in their lobby that you are more inclined to buy from them, rather than to go down the street, so the proprietor will hold more firm on his or her price. However, if you are willing to call the hotel on the phone - even from the hotel’s parking lot - you will find that you have a lot more leverage to get a better deal.
The simple truth is that if hotels are struggling to fill rooms, hotel proprietors are more often willing to negotiate a better rate for their rooms, with any person willing to ask. So ask.
Not every hotel proprietor will be willing to reduce the price of a room, but frequently, proprietors who reject a lower price will offer extra amenities to sweeten the deal. So ask for the better price to see what you can get.
You have nothing to lose by asking, and you could very well negotiate a much better deal if you would only be willing to ask for a better deal. So speak up, and see if you can find a better deal than the advertised price for that room.

The other day I received two emails, both with the same question, why didn’t we have a direct call to action on our website?
Sales people are taught, you always need ‘a call to action,’ a request to act or lose the opportunity of a lifetime. I’m sure you’ve seen the infomercials, website presentations, online direct marketing come-ons, and even high-pressure seminar and tradeshow presentations that will never be repeated, so you better act now. You’re familiar with the language used: “act now and we’ll send you two pieces of junk you don’t need, but wait there’s more, call in the next ten minutes and we’ll add a third useless item.”
Does any intelligent person really respond to this kind of pitch, and what self-respecting business would actually behave in this manner? The fact is, if you sell something of value at a reasonable price, and you treat your customers with some respect, you will get your share of business. You may not get all the business, nobody does, but the business you do get, will result in more satisfied customers, more word-of-mouth referrals, and ultimately more sales. High-pressure tactics, and demands for instant commitment, frighten off as many potential clients as they ensnare.
Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics
Statistically it may be true that if someone leaves your website without ordering, the chances of them returning to order are low, but as Shakespeare’s Cassius said, “the fault, dear Brutus lies not in the stars, but in ourselves.” The problem is NOT the customer; it’s what you’re saying, how you’re saying it, and the expectations you’ve set for determining your site’s performance.
Success is not a question of attracting more traffic, especially if your message is weak, unfocused, and lacking in emotional context. Success is a question of how many people you connect with both directly and indirectly, and how many people come back to your site because they are intrigued by what you have to say.
To start, many products and services are either too complex or too high valued to expect people to make an instant decision; and demanding one just frightens people away. Asking for an order is asking a lot, and leads to resistance. Inviting someone to call or email is reassuring and friendly; it’s an offer to communicate, provide assistance, advice, and information, and it’s easily accepted.
Orders are the result of building relationships and relationships are built on communication. You may not be able to speak to everyone who comes to your website but that only means that your website’s primary job is to communicate what needs to be said so that it makes a memorable impression, and provides something more meaningful than a ‘buy now’ button.
E-Commerce Gone Bad
The e-commerce industry with it’s easy to implement technical solutions has created a class of entrepreneurs who think all they have to do is display a product photo, description, price, and order button, and the sales will follow. This approach may work for mega sites like Amazon.com but it’s not going to work for you. You’ve got to be smarter than that.
When small and medium sized companies try to emulate major corporate business models, they are looking for trouble. It’s one reason why so many websites are so bad, and why so many under perform.
Tom Peters and Robert Waterman didn’t do entrepreneurs a favor when they wrote, “In Search of Excellence.” What they should have written was ‘In Search of Failure,’ since we learn more from things that don’t work than from things that do. In the world of Internet marketing, creating websites that are nothing more than online catalogs, digital brochures, or direct marketing come-ons, is a waste of time and money, not to mention all that effort devoted to attracting website traffic.
Redefine Successful Website Performance
Orders are not the true measure of a website’s success. Nor is the volume of traffic a site attracts. You can have loads of traffic, but little of it ever gets turned into business, and you can even get some orders, but few long-term clients.
The primary objective of your website should be to initiate contact either by email, phone, or in the case of brick and mortar companies, store traffic. In order to achieve that objective, your website presentation must be engaging, enlightening, and above all memorable. Potential clients want a little foreplay, a little respect, and an understanding that you are asking them to put their faith in you.
Marketing Is More Art Than Science
Marketing is about human nature, and the idea that all aspects of human nature can be quantified, and that meaningful results can be extracted and formed into an action plan guaranteed to produce results, is simply over-reaching. The human brain is far too complex, and human motivation is the result of far too many interdisciplinary factors to be boiled down into a unified mathematical formula. The movie and music industries have been trying for years, and still neither one can accurately predict what will be a hit.
In an effort to always maximize productivity, business has bowed-down to the false idol of statistical razzle-dazzle, and succumb to its faux extrapolations. As a consequence business, and especially Web-business, has forsaken insight, intuition, and a ‘consilience*’ approach to marketing, one built on continuous creative experimentation and implementation.
*Consilience: “the linking together of principles from different disciplines especially when forming a comprehensive theory” - Merriam-webster.com.
Three Website Ingredients Needed To Motivate Action
Donna Flagg of the Krysalis Group is quoted in the article, ‘For the Love of Sales,’ published in the online magazine “Selling Power”: “Good selling comes down to three things: communication, education, and the ability to affect others.”
I know of no better method to achieve these three goals than to implement video on your website, it is THE must have marketing vehicle for companies intent on maximizing website presentation impact.
The Center for Media Research reported in their recent ‘Research Brief’ that 42.6% of retailers surveyed were adding product videos to their websites. And the power of video marketing is not just about sales; it’s about how you as a business communicate in the most efficient manner to all your concerned publics.
“Video’s importance transcends the customer experience. It can transform every aspect of an organization, from sales, marketing and communications to investor relations, employee training and education. ” - David Dutch’s MediaPost “Online Video: Redefining How Business Connects With Their Customers”.
1 Communication - Engage
Your websites serves no purpose unless it engages your viewer and communicates a meaningful, memorable message. A video presentation uses sights, sounds, and performance to produce psychological persuasion.
2 Education - Enlighten
A message delivered using creative video presentation techniques is seen, heard, and embedded in the audience’s mind. It informs, explains, clarifies, and focuses attention on the key decision making elements that produce leads, and ultimately sales.
3 Affect Your Audience - Create An Experience
A properly crafted Web video makes a human connection, it affects the viewer on a psychological as well as rational level, so that the message delivered resonates and impacts the decision making process.
About Those Emails
You may be wondering how I answered the emails mentioned earlier; the simple answer is if a marketing presentation is intriguing enough, your audience will respond, and in this case, both visitors did exactly what our website is designed to do, get people to email or phone so that we can open a dialog with them, so we can get to know each other, so we can start to build a productive business relationship, and we do it using video - the media is the message.
It is time businesses employ a new Web-philosophy, one that is aimed at turning advertising into content, and content into an experience. And I know of no better way to create an online experience than to employ Web video.

Have you ever considered using polls or surveys on your website?
Perhaps one of the most overlooked tools in the blogger’s arsenal is the ability to set up surveys and polls on the blog. Yet, these surveys and polls can serve a number of different purposes for the blogger and, in reality, should be used more often on many blogs. Here is a brief look at some of the benefits that polls and surveys provide.
Benefit #1: Performing Market Research
Simply put, surveys and polls help you get to know your audience better. Although you should have already conducted some market research in order to get to know your target audience better, surveys and polls will help you get to know the people who are actually reading your blog. Armed with this information, you can create posts that are more to their liking and you can add features to your blog that will help you keep your audience happy. If you are trying to make money with affiliate products, polls can also help you when it comes to selecting the products you will try to sell on your blog.
Benefit #2: Starting a Conversation
Polls and surveys are often great fodder for getting conversations going. One on hand, you can ask a question with your poll and then ask your community members to explain why they provided that answer. On the other hand, the results of the poll or survey can often stir up additional conversations - particularly if the topic is one that is controversial. In fact, using a poll or a survey is a good way to introduce a controversial subject for your readers to debate without you having to take a strong stance on either side.
Keep in mind that you will have the option to allow your readers to view the results or to keep the results closed as the survey is taking place. If you don’t want the responses to be skewed, you might want to keep this feature closed until after you have conducted the poll.
Benefit #3: Keeping it Simple
Polls and surveys are also beneficial to the blogger because they are pretty easy to set up. So, if you have a day when you really can’t think of anything to write about or you simply don’t have time for a post, putting up a survey or poll will still interest your readers without taking so much time to create.
Although polls and surveys are relatively easy to create, this is not to say you shouldn’t put any thought into the one that you create. Rather, make certain you ask a question that involves a topic that is meaningful to your readers. Also, make certain your answer choices are clear and well-defined. That way, you will get an accurate response to your poll or survey and you may actually be able to use the information to further improve the content of your site.

I discuss the 2009 Saturn Vue hybrid in this article, including topics such as its engine, fuel economy, design, and availability.
Introduction
At long last, General Motors have officially and finally announced their long talked about 2009 Saturn Vue Hybrid. This car is considered to be an innovation among hybrids since it has something more to offer compared to other hybrid vehicles in the market.
Popularity At Its Best
Most experts consider that the 2009 Saturn Vue Hybrid would be the most popular among all hybrids. This kind of expectation may be due to several reasons, mostly related to what the car has to offer its consumers. Nevertheless, Saturn still keeps up with consumer expectations as they continue to improve their Vue model.
Their 2009 model has been the talk of the town lately since it was noted that this car makes use of General Motor’s newest motor system, which is the Two-Mode Green System.
It’s All About The Engine
Since hybrids are known well for their engines, then you should expect this car to have a pretty specialized one. It actually has a gas engine that has 3.6-liter V-6 direct-injection, which has been working its way up the automaker’s lineup.
For starters, you should know that the conventional Vue would have an engine that has the ability to make 248 lb-ft of torque and 257 horsepower. Its electric power consequently comes from two transmission integrated 55 kilowatt electric motors. It’s really noteworthy that merely the older model can already be considered to be a mean machine.
What is pretty interesting though is that General Motor actually claims that the fuel economy for their newest model, which is the Vue 2 Mode would be 50% way better in contrast to their gas-only V-6. Additionally they claim that their new model would also have a 500 mile range.
Believe it or not, the 2009 Saturn Vue Hybrid is so powerful that its 0-60 time is actually expected to be about 7.3 seconds. It would also have a maximum towing load fixed at a maximum of 3500 pounds.
The Results Of Good Team Work
What most people don’t know is that this car’s 2-Mode system is actually co-developed with former DaimlerChrysler and BMW. This system actually has the ability for regenerative braking. Another perk would be its engine idle off feature. The system also has various modes like electric-only operation during low speeds, around 30 mph.
The 2-Mode system also has well-organized accessory systems such as the electric power steering. Additionally, this car wouldn’t have any traditional reverse gear. Hence, there’s no more need to worry about doing scary reverse maneuvers, since all your reversing operations would be powered by your car’s electric motors.
Viewing Down Under
The 2009 Saturn Vue Hybrid vehicle doesn’t only impress from the outside nor the inside, but even its down under view can impress anyone. In fact, this model has gone chassis improvements and adjustments, so that it could compensate for its massive 189 pounds of additional heft, which includes stabilizer bar rates and revised springs. It also has recalibrated front struts, along with rear shock absorbers.
The Outer Make-Up
Generally, the physical appearance of the 2009 model is somewhat the same with the older version. In reality, not much has changed visually for this model. However, of course, you would find this car to have 2 Mode badges on its front doors. The bandages could also be found at its rear liftgate.
The car also sports rims that are made up of lightweight aluminum alloy. It also has special tires that are actually low-rolling resistance, which are designed to additional aid you with your fuel savings.
Additionally, subtle changes have been. One of these would be the car’s chrome door handles. In fact, it also has dual exhaust tips and rear and front skid plates that are all made up of chrome. The older version’s tachometer was also replaced with a fuel-efficienct gauge, which also informs you whenever your vehicle is currently on engine-only mode, electric-only mode, or the combination of both. Hence, your gauge also serves to be a reminder that your car is actually turned on, even if you know that your engine is turned off.
The arrival of the Vue Green Line 2 Mode, which is scheduled to go into production in late 2008, questions the future of the existing “mild-hybrid” Vue Green Line. It appears GM is going to keep that model around as a lower-cost alternative, but the presence of two similarly named models may confuse some customers. Pricing and other details of the Vue Green Line 2 Mode will be released closer to launch.
For sure, the 2009 Saturn Vue Hybrid would definitely be a great buy if you’re really on the hunt for something that can save you money and at the same time has a deadly engine!

If you have decided to make blogging a business venture, you might be considering obtaining a business credit card. There are many perks to having a business credit card, but you also need to be careful when selecting one in order to make sure you are getting the card that will serve you and your business the best.
Perks of Having a Business Credit Card
Many people are frightened by the thought of getting a business credit card. After all, credit cards have earned a bad name because many people have managed to dig themselves into a significant amount of debt with their credit cards. If used responsibly, however, a business credit card can provide you with all of the following perks:
Make you appear more professional to your clients because having a credit card makes you look like an established business
Provide you with a free form of advertisement since you can put your company name and logo on a business credit card
Help you keep your business expenses separate from your personal expenses, which is particularly helpful at tax time
Allow you to give cards to your employees or business partners while still being able to monitor their spending and placing separate credit limits on different cards
Make it possible for you to get a quick business loan if needed to help take your business to the next level
While using a business credit card irresponsibly can certainly lead to an overwhelming amount of debt, using it wisely can help you take your business to the next level.
Picking the Perfect Business Credit Card
There are many factors you should consider when selecting a business credit card. One of the most important factors you should consider is the interest rate on the credit card. This is particularly important if you plan to use the card to help you get your business going rather than obtaining a traditional business loan from a bank. In this case, you want to find the card that will offer you the lowest interest rate possible. In fact, if you are applying for a new card, you should also look into the various introductory rates offered by business credit cards. You may be able to find one that will offer a 0% APR or a very low interest rate for the first several months.
If you don’t plan on borrowing against the credit card and carrying a balance from one billing cycle to the next, the interest rate may not be your biggest concern. In this case, you should look for a card that offers attractive benefits to its cardholders, such as discounts at certain stores or insurance coverage. You might also want to consider obtaining a business credit card with a rewards program, which can actually help you make money from the credit card if you pay it off at the end of each billing cycle in order to avoid paying finance charges.
One final note, in applying for credit make sure you are dealing with a reputable company. There are scammers and fraudulent companies just waiting to take advantage of you.

Pay-per-click, or PPC, advertising is one of the most effective methods for drawing traffic to a website or blog. At the same time, it is potentially one of the most costly methods for marketing. If done correctly, however, the return on investment (ROI) will pay off quite nicely.
A PPC advertising campaign is one that involves paying to have your blog appear among the “Sponsored Links” or the “Sponsor Results” you find on the right hand of the screen when you perform a search with a search engine such as Yahoo or Google. You accomplish this by placing a bid on certain keywords and keyword phrases. Then, every time someone enters those keywords into the search engine, your blog will be brought up in the sponsored results. Every time someone clicks on your link, you will have to pay the search engine a certain pre-determined amount.
As you can imagine, paying for a PPC campaign can be quite costly. After all, even if you are paying just five cents per click and you have 1000 clicks per day, that is $50 per day. That comes out to be $350 per week, which can eat away at your marketing budget rather quickly. Now, paying $350 per week may seem worthwhile if it is bringing you 7,000 new visitors. But, if only one or two of those people are people who are actually interested in your blog, the cost certainly isn’t worth it.
So, how exactly do you make your PPC campaign worthwhile? This is where your marketing research comes in handy. Since you now know the needs of your target audience, you can select keywords for your PPC campaign that will draw in visitors who are interested in what your blog has to offer.
Be certain to select keywords that are very specific in order to bring in the right type of traffic. For example, if you are maintaining a blog about dog training, you should not set up a PPC campaign based around the word “dog,” as this can bring in visitors who were looking for information about dog breeds, searching for dog food, trying to find instructions for building a dog house, or any other possible term associated with dogs. Rather, select keyword phrases that are more specific to dog training in order to bring in the right type of web traffic.
When searching through the various keywords you can select for your PPC campaign, you should look for phrases that are popular while still being within your budget. You should also place a bid on phrases that will allow you to be within the top 5 results. That way, they will be displayed on the first page of the search engine results and will be more likely to be seen by your target audience.
If you are looking for a quick way to boost traffic to your site and if there is room in your budget, PPC advertising is a good route to take. Otherwise, you may want to explore other methods of marketing that are not quite so costly.
