The Acura RL: Get to Know the Basics

by Aidan Busbee

The Acura RL has been called the “flagship of the Acura line up” and it’s got the luxury features to prove it. Acura’s flagship is available now from Acura of Tempe. It offers the latest technology and safety features. It also offers one of the most often overlooked features in car design: space! The many luxury features combine to offer a comfortable package. (It doesn’t hurt that it’s an eye pleaser as well!)

Standing apart from other luxury sedans, the Acura RL actually falls under the midsize car classification. This classification makes it even more impressive that the Acura RL offers drivers and their passengers a ride that is both comfortable and roomy. The fact that the RL comes at a reasonable price to consumers is just one more bonus among many.

While the Acura RL does not offer the V8 option popular amongst other luxury sedans, it DOES offer 290 hp. And it offers 290 hp with a lighter V6 that increases the fuel economy of the vehicle on the road!

As was mentioned the V6 engine allows the RL to be as fuel-efficient as possible and with this, it finds itself as one of the most fuel-efficient luxury sedans on the road delivering a very impressive 24 miles per gallon.

Car buyers looking to purchase the typical “luxo-barge” won’t usually think of the Acura RL. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t offer some of the most popular luxury features including: Bose sound system, XM radio, Bluetooth compatibility, dual zone climate control, trip computer, noise cancellation, etc. Car buyers are typically more than a little surprised at just how much they get when it comes to luxurious appointments with the Acura RL.

You might think that all the luxury features will leave the average car buyer a little overwhelmed when it comes to actually accessing and using the features once off the lost, but the Acura RL was actually designed to be pretty user friendly. You won’t need to keep the owner’s manual on the dash at all times to enjoy the comfort offered by the RL’s luxury features.

In addition to being well equipped with accessories, the Acura RL is well equipped with some of the most advanced safety features available. Acura meets and exceeds all safety requirements to provide piece of mind for all those who occupy it. Whether it is an individual or a family, all who use the RL can feel confident in its protection. Among the RL safety features you’ll find vehicle stability assist, anti-lock brake system and electronic brake distribution, advanced compatibility engineering and more.

Acura also chose the RL to introduce the Super Handling-All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). The RL is the first from Acura to offer the feature. With SH-AWD you get the capability to continuously distribute varying levels of power to the 4 wheels of the vehicle enhancing handling and lowering the probability of problems in wet weather due to providing better traction.

Acura’s RL started off by establishing itself in the forefront of the Acura line up. It moved on to establishing itself as a fore runner in the luxury sedan category. The next step is establishing itself as the best car on the road by exceeding expectations across “class” lines! Find out more about the Acura RL online at wee.AcuraDealerTempe.com.

The 1958 Chevy Impala is a classic American car. People from all generations love this old car. It has what I call personality. From the lines in the body to the unique grill, a whole generation of Americans fell in love with this car.

See 1958 Chevy Impalas and other cars on auction.

The web makes it so much easier to find the 1958 Impala for sale that you have always been looking for. Ebay makes it possible. It is easy to use ebay for buying cars, just make sure to read more about it on their help section. I always like to find classic cars sold around the country on ebay because you can find so many different cars from hot rods to originals. I am a sucker however for the 58 Impala since I have owned four in my lifetime, and have traded up to the 58 show car I now flaunt at the local car shows in Alabama.

Many a teeneager from the early sixties, like myself, loved to take their sweety out for a spin in the 58 Impala. The drive-ins were great fun, where a guy and a gal could get some real privacy. I remember the first James Bond movie, Dr. No, and a special date I had with my future wife. The windows were a little steamy but we seemed to still catch some of the plot from that famous first movie of the Bond series.

1958 Chevy Impala History

Chevy’s Impala was began in 1958. This full-sized vehicle built by General Motors for their Chevrolet division. From 1958 until 1965, the Impala was the most expensive full-size car offered by Chevrolet.

The 58 Impala was one of the classic cars of the movie American Graffiti. Starring Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, and Wolfman Jack, the movie American Graffiti featured the 58 Chevy Impala, which is considered one of cinemas great cars. It proved to be the catalyst for 1950s nostalgia during the 70’s that led to the TV’s hit series, Happy Days.

1958 Chevy lovers have a special bond that transcends time. It is something that is hard to explain to anyone who has not experienced it before. The car has a way of grabbing your heart, and not letting go. I recommend that if you are one of the lovesick 58 Impala lovers like myself, and you don’t yet have one in your garage, get one. Surf the auctions online for one, because these ars are only going to get rarer. Get one while you can.

What Can I Do To Improve Gas Mileage and Save Fuel

Ways to improve gas mileage and save gas or money are not that difficult to find. Combine trips or errands to places you usually have to travel to daily or weekly. Think of this as trip planning and try to find the shortest routs possible by using online mapping services or GPS. A GPS device can save you money and some services will show you routes that are the most direct further saving gas and money.

Try using free services online that help you find the cheapest gas in areas you often travel or drive. When planning trips or running your errands plan stops at the gas pump to take advantage of these low gas prices.

Instead of driving around town when shopping for products looking for the lowest price do your searching online. Consider having your purchases shipped to your door. Most major retailers or merchants offer their products online and offer a larger variety and sometimes a discount or free shipping. Not only will you save time and money driving to pick up the item but you are more likely to purchase something that matched your expectations.

If I told you air could increase gas mileage would you believe it? If you your tires are properly inflated you could see your gas mileage increase 3%. Tires that are not checked regularly for proper air pressure or wear and tear can be a safety hazard and wear even quicker. Tires that are check regularly and it should be done monthly will save you money in the long run not just on fuel costs but on tire replacement.

Get your oil change as recommended; oil that goes beyond its recommended interval can cost you in two ways. Wear and tear on an engine and when changed you could improve gas mileage 1-2%. If the service tech suggests changing an oil filter it may be a good idea. Changing an air filter that is dirty could increase gas mileage by 10%.

Refer to your owners manual for tune up intervals. if your vehicle is running rough or has experienced a decrease in gas mileage you may still want to take it in to have a service technician determine if it is time for a tuneup. Finding a faulty oxygen sensor could help you realize an increase in gas mileage up to 40%.

It is always best to give some distance between you and the vehicle in front or you. Let your vehicle come to a natural stop by allowing wind resistance to your advantage. When accelerating avoid gunning it. Use your cruise control to increase gas mileage. These methods should are better for you engine, brakes and transmission and best for saving gas and money.

Will you be purchasing a more fuel efficient vehicle soon because you want to get rid of a gas guzzler or just looking for ways to improve gas mileage? Compare miles per gallon or MPG. Be wary of a vehicle that needs premium gas compared to one that needs regular. If an automobile manufacturer recommends premium chances are the vehicle needs it and running it on regular could reduce engine life. Try to stick to regular or ethanol ready engines. Always research the vehicle you plan on buying.

Looking for the Top 5 When it Comes to Car Dealerships!

Buying a car is one of the first major purchases any of us ever make. Most of us have fond memories of our “first car.” I even know a guy who uses the make and model of the car he owned as a way of creating a mental time line of his life; that’s how important it is to him. So why is it that so many consumers end up feeling uncomfortable at the dealership? At San Tan Honda Superstore of Chandler we want to sell cars. But we don’t only want to sell cars. We want to sell cars and have our new drivers heading home happy with their purchase and confident that they got a good deal.

Other dealerships don’t care about the “happy” so much as the sale and quick departure of car buyers. When you decide to drop by a new car dealership make sure the very first thing you do is to check out the dealership and make sure it’s a good option!

As a favor to consumers who may someday want to buy a Honda while they’re in Chandler, Arizona…we’re willing to guide you in the right direction with a list of 5 things you should make sure your dealership offers you:

1. Everyone likes nice people and nice salesmen are not only a possibility, but something you should insist upon. Don’t accept being treated like a piece of meat dropped amongst vultures. Salesmen that seem to attack before you’ve even had time to get out of your vehicle and head to the front door of the dealership are not fun to work with; find a dealership that has trained their salespeople to observe the niceties.

2. Make sure they have an Internet division. You’re online researching right now so already know the importance and the power of knowledge prior to a purchase. Many car dealerships have full Internet departments to cater to today’s online market. Take advantage of it! Access the Internet specials and expect the Internet specials to be honored at your chosen dealership!

3. Good dealerships will have salesmen that guide you through your purchase; not drag you kicking and screaming. If you find your salesman bossing you around or insisting you “wait” or “follow him”, etc. you can rest assured they’re practicing. They’re leading up to the final act of “bossing” you into a car purchase that might not be right for you!

4. Look for a dealership whose salesmen are very knowledgeable, but not ridiculously opinionated. This is your new car; not the salesman’s. So it doesn’t really matter how many times he’s been tempted to buy the loaded, high end model in the showroom. If you feel like looking at it; go ahead. But don’t feel obligated to accommodate the suggestions of a salesman who continuously suggests vehicles that are not what you came in to buy.

5. And what about honesty? If a dealership is honest you’ll never look back on your “monumental” car purchase with bitterness. Choosing an honest dealership means you will have a clear knowledge of your interest rate and payment information. Choosing an honest dealership means you will actually have the opportunity to take advantage of advertised specials. (If you are immediately told that the “advertised special” is already sold or is temporarily out of stock. Say thank you and walk away to find a dealership that actually honors their own advertising!)

If you make sure your dealer of choice meets the above 5 requirements you’ll have a lot less to worry about. Remember that just because buying a vehicle is ultra convenient and seemingly easy doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be weighty decision. Start your next car ownership experience off by being happy with your purchase transaction. Being happy with your vehicle is one thing, but the best thing is being happy with your entire car buying experience from arriving on the lot to driving your new car for years to come!

Acura’s Crossover: The RDX

As crossover vehicles become more and more popular, the Acura RDX, a small luxury crossover, available today at Acura of Tempe in the Phoenix area, establishes itself as not only an adventurous SUV but also has moved forward from the rest with some of the most technological features available. The RDX combines it’s highly mechanized architecture and performance capabilities to offer a level of intrigue many crossover makers simply cannot match.

The Acura RDX design team focused on maintaining the highest levels of functionality incorporated inside a sporty look. The design was meant to appeal to a wide age range due to its combination of class, sport and function and buying trends indicate the attempt was a success. The Acura RDX is the first factory Acura with a turbocharged engine making it stand out as a crossover built for on road performance. The Acura RDX is definitely driver’s dream on the road combined with the look of a small sports utility vehicle.

The closest comparison in the industry for the Acura RDX would be the Honda CR-V. But the term “closest comparison” is used quite loosely in this instance. The Acura RDX offers the high performance, turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine. Drivers have access to 240 horsepower and 260 pound/foot of torque. The RDX’s engine feels like the engine of a luxurious sports sedan on the road creating the opportunity for crossover drivers to experience 0-60 mph in 6 seconds with a smooth ride and superior handling.

The RDX comes with standard five speed automatic transmission. The RDX also offers Super Handling All Wheel Drive System. This means that the car takes advantage of recent technology capable of distributing power continuously between all 4 wheels on the vehicle. It provides more concise handling and prevents traction loss during wet weather.

The Acura RDX offers more standout features when it comes to safety. Some of the most advanced safety features available have been included in the RDX design: vehicle stability assist, surrounding airbags, ABS, electronic brake distribution, and advanced compatibility engineering. The target market for the RDX is a wide one when it comes to age definitions. The younger generation is drawn to the sporty look and the older generation is reassured by the wide range of high quality safety features.

Acura also took advantage of a few technological advances for the RDX design not directly related to safety! Drivers will find they appreciate the full display navigation w/real time traffic, voice recognition and Bluetooth. Everyone in the vehicle will appreciate the surround sound, personalized settings, and dual-zone/GPS link temperature controls as well as power windows, locks and moon roof. And that’s not even a complete list of the luxury and comfort design features included in the RDX!

There will continue to be comparisons made to Acura’s RDX, but the competition will continue to fall far short of the high levels RDX has set for crossovers! With better handling, a sportier look, and more luxury features…the RDX really has it all.

In choosing from the wide variety of used engine sellers out there, you?ll want to use a little judgment, especially on the process vendors and distributors use to ?certify? or provide engines that meet your goals for power and performance.

Those who work on engines know that it?s not just a matter of ?either it works or it doesn?t?; mechanics take great pride in outfitting, installing and calibrating engines for peak performance.

The same principles apply to buying a used, refurbished or remanufactured engine from a third party. If you?re looking for a solution for getting pep into your stalled-out vehicle, you want to know that the shop you?re buying from uses rigorous methods to make sure the blocks shipped are reliable and ready to go.

Re-manufacturing to company specs

For a lot of engine vendors, certification of the manufacturer?s standard is important, so the shop employs credible technicians to inspect and test the used engine so that it meets all of the criteria for a new one rolling off the line.

You can rely on certifications advertised by the seller to know that your used engine buy has been worked back to specifications.

QA Testing for a Used Engine

There are a variety of testing processes shops use to verify a used engine is in great shape. Even if the shop is not certified to one manufacturer?s ?seal of approval?, that seller can verify they ship great product by telling buyers about how they work on a used engine.

Dyno Testing

Testing with a dynamometer or ?dyno testing? is how shops measure an engine?s torque, and therefore its horsepower.

A good dyno test will involve running an engine under different conditions and different loads to note how it performs, so that the performance data is on hand either to re-work it or to prove its power first-hand.

Compression Testing

Another very common way shops test engines is by simple compression tests, where tools are inserted into the engine to see what kind of pressure the various chambers can sustain.

Compression testing is performed for results on cylinders individually: low compression in a cylinder can mean a bad exhaust valve. When compression is low on all cylinders, it?s a more general problem.

Compression testing basically confirms that there are no worn parts like valves or rings compromising the needed pressure for the engine?s performance. Shops use ?compression ratios? to compare compression at the top and bottom of a piston cycle.

Ordering

When you know you have a good shop that performs these kinds of tests, you can pick out an engine from the inventory. Be sure to call in with necessary information on your vehicle like the VIN number, etc., to make sure you get the right engine shipped to you, as there can be confusion between different engines of the same make and model.

Make a used engine the perfect fit for your grounded car and get running again when you find an affordable contract with a legitimate and credible used engine dealer.

A Toyota Engine From Abroad

Need a replacement engine for your ride?

If your car has broken down and needs more than a little care, if your head or cylinder is shot, requiring extensive engine work, you can probably take advantage of an international imbalance in how cars are bought and sold to get a great low-mileage replacement engine for your vehicle.

When buying a used engine for a Toyota or other Japanese car, it?s helpful to know about how used engine models get imported from Japan to the U.S.

A number of factors lead to an influx of low-mileage used engine shipments from Japan.

First, there?s the multitude of obstacles facing Japanese drivers. In Japan, motorists often have to pay high costs for urban parking. The standards for getting a vehicle on the road and keeping it there are intense.

In some cases, a Japanese car must have a used engine retired at the end of a specific number of years. In other cases, body damage or slight engine wear leads to the shelving of a vehicle with a well-running, low-mileage used engine.

All of this contributes to a favorable equation for any U.S. driver with a Toyota Camry, Corolla or other model. Owners of a Toyota or Japanese car that has stalled out permanently due to a faulty engine can choose from a variety of distributors who will sell short or long engine blocks used for getting cars back on the road at the least expense to the owner.

Some domestic shops will sell remanufactured engines that are checked for compliance with industry standards. This can be helpful, since used engine models often sit idle for months before being installed. Also, although Japanese emissions standards are generally tougher than those in the U.S., there are some incongruent standards, and that means some engines coming from Japan may need to be retro-fitted with smog compliant gear.

When buying a used engine or a remanufactured engine, there are some odds and ends to take care of. Make sure you know what parts of the engine ship with your purchase and whether manifolds, pans, etc. are included. You?ll want to find out what kinds of tests have been done to ensure the engine is in good shape. For instance, shops generally run compression tests to see if the engine pressure is adequate.

Some shops sell used engines ?as-is?, but many offer some guarantees of satisfaction. Know what kind of purchase you?re making before the transaction is done.

You?ll also want to arrange for shipping the block directly to the shop where it will be installed.

When all of these aspects are taken into account, you may find that buying a used engine is a great solution for resurrecting your ride and getting back in the driver?s seat.
