The Importance Of Buying From An Honest Pomeranian Breeder
The Pomeranian is one of the most popular small breed dogs on the market today. Their celebrity has gained even more in recent years, with the onslaught of Hollywood starlets who proudly tote their precious little cuties to every single red-carpet event possible. What most people don’t realize is that, as adorably elegant as these dogs are, they make wonderful companions for anyone of any age. They are best known for their full coats, but of more importance is their capacity for love and affection.
With more and more people realizing what a wonderful family pet the Pomeranian is, it is difficult for an honest Pomeranian breeder to keep up with the demand for these sweet little dogs. A respectable Pomeranian breeder has a great many responsibilities when it comes to properly producing a litter of pups, not to mention the rigorous screening process to choose the right owner for each dog. Unfortunately, most people don’t understand this process, and are so anxious to get their hands on one of these dogs that they simply run off to their local pet store to purchase the dog of their dreams.
The first thing that anyone who wants one of these sweet little dogs must understand is that a respectable Pomeranian breeder would never sell his or her pups to a pet store. Since a pet store is obligated to sell their animals to anyone with the money to buy, there is never a guarantee that the dogs will be going to a good home.
Little care is given to the dogs in these mills, and the pups that are then delivered to pet stores are often sick and dying from lack of proper care.
The dishonest Pomeranian breeder who supplies pet stores often is running what is known as a puppy mill. The only purpose of these mills is to churn out as many pups as possible throughout the year, in order to profit from the growing popularity of these dogs. Pups born in puppy mills are often born sick, simply because the breeders who run these mills raise their dogs in conditions that are barely legal, and will breed a female as many times in a year as possible.
Don’t be fooled by pet storeowners who do their best to tell you that their puppies only come from an honest Pomeranian breeder. These pet storeowners are highly trained in answering that question, as the world’s awareness of the atrocities of puppy mills grows. But nevertheless, do not be fooled when a pet storeowner tells you that he or she only buys from a local breeder. You’ll only set yourself up for heartache when your new dog turns out to be potentially fatally ill.
When you refuse to buy a Pomeranian pup from a pet store, you are helping to ensure that the dishonest Pomeranian isn’t making any more money. If everyone would stop buying dogs in the pet stores, these breeders would soon be out of business, and there would be far fewer new dog owners becoming heartbroken when their new pup dies from maltreatment.
A Pomeranian makes a wonderful family pet, so don’t you think your family deserves the very best?
