Gaining Muscles While You Sleep
Working out at the gym is of course the basis to build from if your intention is to gain a muscular body. However there are other aspects that are essential if you are to grow with ease, and if you feel like you’re doing most of it right, there might be an often overlooked aspect that your missing out on.
Sleep.
By giving your body a full nights sleep you give it the base it needs to be able to build stronger muscles. Examine your sleeping patterns; do you have a deep sleep or one that is light with interruptions? Is it easy for you to fall asleep or do you toss and turn for hours? Do you feel rested when you wake up or do you take hours to get going?
Have you ever wondered why children sleep a lot more then adults? Surely a lot of things are being improved while they are sleeping but most certainly they grow a lot more than adults. Most bodily growth happens while we are sleeping and this is why sleep is so important.
When you’ve been asleep for about 40 minutes your level of growth hormones raises, and this includes the amount of testosterone which is on of the most important hormones for muscle growth. The growth hormones aids the process in which nutrition is being transformed into new muscular cells.
If your body doesn’t get the proper deep sleep it so well needs, it won’t be able to switch from work-mode to relax-mode. In this way this building up process will fall behind and your body won’t have the ability to recover as fast as it would with a good sleep each night.
There are many thing that you can do to improve the quality of your sleep. It’s often easier to fall asleep if you take your time in the evening to wind down for a few hours. Have a cup of herbal tea with calming properties, such as chamomile or peppermint, or drink a cup of warm milk. This can help you to slow down and become more relaxed.
There are many things you can do to wind down before going to bed; read a good book, listen to calming music and/or have some pleasant conversation with your partner or a friend. You can also try some relaxing exercises, such as hypnosis. Do what feels right for you.
Even though you want to eat something not too far before you’re going to bed for your body to be able to grow the most, you might feel that it’s easier to fall asleep if your body has been able to digest the food properly. Make your last meal one with a good amount of protein and fat and you can have it maybe one or two hours before going to bed.
Find ways that works for you. By taking sleeping medication you might fall asleep easier, but it actually makes the sleep less deep and if you’re taking it every night your body will adjust to it and there’s even a risk of getting dependent on them.
If you give your body the time it needs to be able to do the work that it needs to do, you’ll be amazed to see how fast your muscles can grow.
