You’re not going to have a problem finding an affiliate program, but rather picking the correct one will be the challenge. Here’s some important information to think about:
A: Do business with Merchant’s that are willing to compensate you fairly. I really don’t want to deal with anyone that isn’t going to pay me at least half. Hey, they might have a great product, but if it wasn’t for you getting the targeted prospects to their site, they wouldn’t be in business. You’re worth a lot to them and you should be paid accordingly.
So make sure you know what you’re worth to a Merchant. They need you more than you need them. When you deal with great programs, they will usually pay even a higher percentage of the sale.
B: Are they going to actually pay you and on a regular basis? When dealing with a great program, they will pay you like they should and it will be at least once a month and better yet bi monthly.
Affiliates must be aware of the minimum requirements to getting paid. If you have to meet unrealistic minimums month after month to get a paycheck, it just isn’t worth it. Most great Internet affiliate marketing programs have low or no minimums on your affiliate marketing sales.
If you really think you won’t be able to meet the requirements, then don’t promote that program. There’s plenty of opportunities out there that will fit your needs.
C: Does the customer service meet your expectations?
Even though you just market to others, you do represent their company and product. Their reputation, either good or bad, will effect your business. It’s critical that they run their business in a way that looks good on you.
Something you might consider would be to purchase the product you are going to market and see if it meets up to your quality standards. Then return it and see how they treat you as a customer. This little trick will let you know quickly if it’s worth your time to represent this particular company.

D: If your real desire is to help people, then it will show to those on your list. You will gain there trust and when you do send offers to them, they will be more comfortable buying from you.
3- Ask the merchant for a better percentage of the commission
If you become really good at making sales for a product, you should ask the merchant for more of the profits of the sale. It’s worth trying, because you have nothing to lose. There’s no skin off the nose of the merchant. He doesn’t really have to do anything to get the sale. They don’t want to lose you as a valuable affiliate, so they may seriously consider it.
To sum things up, only work with the best affiliate marketing programs. Build your list and market to them over and over again. Finally if you are really an asset to the merchant, ask that they reward you by giving you a higher percentage of the commission.
